The technique used with the subjects, whether imaginary or real is broken down into blocks of colour placed mostly diagonally or vertically. The colours are chosen to give an essence of time or place. 

The works are built in layers using a chosen colour palette. Many changes are made, the result is always completely different to how it started. Throughout the painting, finding quiet areas, continuously balancing colour, form and tone.
